BERGLI HILL FARMSTAY
Bergli is a 100 acre farm at Teddington, Lyttelton Harbour, on the hill side of Charteris Bay Road (Number 265) between Governors Bay and Diamond Harbour. Our GPS co-ordinates are 43.66 South and 172.67 East.

■ From CHRISTCHURCH CITY CENTRE (30 minutes)
Take Colombo Street southward. This will change into Dyers Road from the Cashmere Hills with "The Sign of the Kiwi" at the summit. Coming down into Lyttelton Harbour go towards Diamond Harbour through Governors Bay, Allendale then Teddington. At Teddington the Wheatsheaf Tavern is on your right, at the turn off to Akaroa. Continue on in the direction of Diamond Harbour for 2 kilometres. Before a bend, on your left you will see an official blue and white B&B sign. On the bend,on your right will be a yellow letter-box and a wooden sign with "Bergli B&B" on it. If you start driving up the slope and see a deer farm on your left...you have gone too far!

■ From CHRISTCHURCH AIRPORT (45 minutes)
Turn right at the 2nd round-about (Highway 1) to go in the direction of Timaru and Akaroa. At Hornby , the road is parallel to the railway lines, and Highway one turns to the right in the direction of Timaru. Don't turn but go across Highway 1 and continue straight. After about 1 kilometre, take the roundabout to the left for Highway 75 going to Akaroa. Turn here and travel to Halswell,where you turn right at the traffic lights in the direction of Akaroa. Go through Tai Tapu and Motukarara. After this the “Blue Duck Cafe” is on the corner of the turn off to Gebbies Valley and Diamond Harbour. Turn left here, and travel through the valley and over the hill. You will come down into Lyttelton Harbour, to "The Wheatsheaf Pub" on your left at a "T" junction. Turn right here, in the direction of Diamond Harbour and travel for 2 kilometres. Before a bend, on your left you will see an official blue and white B&B sign. On the bend You will see a yellow letter-box and a wooden "Bergli B&B" sign on your right. If you travel up the slope and see a deer farm on your left, you have gone too far!

■ From the North
Take the "Christchurch via Marshlands" exit from the motorway north of Christchurch, and at the second roundabout go left on the "R" Ring road, which will take you to the east ...the sea side. From there follow the signs to Lyttelton, go through the tunnel, and at thr roundabout to the right, skirting around Lyttelton Harbour with the Port Hills on your right, and the harbour on your left. From Lyttelton it will take 25 minutes. You will go through Cass bay, the Maori settlement of Rapaki, Governors Bay, Allendale, and then come to Teddington. "The Wheatsheaf Tavern" is on your right at the turn-off to Akaroa. Keep on straight in the direction of Diamond Harbour and travel for 2 kilometres. Before a bend, on your left you will see an official blue and white B&B sign. On the bend you will see a yellow letter box and a wooden "Bergli B&B" sign on your right. If you travel up the slope and see a deer farm on your left, you have gone too far!

■ From the SOUTH
From Highway 1 heading for Christchurch, turn right at Burnham, and head towards Lincoln. Continue through Lincoln and at Tai Tapu turn right onto Highway 75 in the direction of Akaroa. Two kilometers past Motukarara, turn off the main road at the Blue Duck cafe into the Gebbies Valley. Drive over Gebbies pass, and down to Teddington. At the T-Junction, marked by the Wheatsheaf tavern, turn right in the direction of Diamond Harbour and travel for 2 kilometers.Before a bend, on your left you will see an official blue and white B&B sign. On the bend just before the first rise, our driveway is marked by a bright yellow letter-box, and a large "Bergli B&B" sign on the right. You have gone too far if you travel up the slope and see a deer farm on the left.

■ From ARTHUR’S PASS and the WEST COAST
From Greymouth it is four hours (driving time only) and from Castle Hill it will take one and a half hours to Bergli. After going through Springfield and Darfield, you will go through the tiny village of Kirwee. Trip the odometer here and it will be 58 kilometers to Bergli. 5.5 k from Kirwee there is well marked turn-off to the right towards Highway 1 and Burnham. Be careful here.Turn right here and cross the railway line and then turn to the left towards Burnham. At Burnham (Odometer=16k) you will go across Highway 1 and through the University town of Lincoln. Continue on to Tai Tapu (37K) where you turn right onto route 75 in the direction of Akaroa. After Motukarara the Blue Duck Café is on your left (47K) where you turn off to go through Gebbies Pass. Drive over Gebbies pass, and down to Teddington. At the T-Junction, marked by the Wheatsheaf tavern (56K), turn right in the direction of Diamond Harbour and travel for 2 kilometers. Before a bend, on your left you will see an official blue and white B&B sign. On the bend just before the first rise, our driveway is marked by a bright yellow letter-box, and a large "Bergli B&B" sign on the right. You have gone too far if you travel up the slope and see a deer farm on the left.
